Liu Dongguang – Pioneer of the world's leading elderly care, nursing, and rehabilitation robot systems

Liu Dongguang holds a Master's degree from Sun Yat-sen University and serves as an Associate Chief Physician. A leading expert in intelligent elderly care robotics at the intersection of medicine and engineering, he is also the founder of Guangzhou Roujiren. With over 20 years of experience in clinical medicine and medical device commercialization, he holds more than 100 domestic and international patents. For 2019 years, he has led the development of multi-robot collaborative nursing and rehabilitation systems, spearheading a national key R&D program on elderly care robots. He pioneered proprietary core technologies including flexible transfer, multi-robot collaboration, and automated unmanned docking/undocking, overcoming a global industry bottleneck that has persisted for over three decades. This enables fully autonomous, hands-free bed-to-chair transfers, bathing assistance, and rehabilitation training for bedridden, disabled seniors without human intervention. Backed by a special Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) initiative, his project delivers cost-effective, domestically produced integrated equipment to address critical challenges in the elderly care sector: labor shortages, difficulties in caring for severely disabled individuals, and widespread refusal of admission by grassroots care facilities. Committed to upholding the dignity of life for disabled seniors through medical-engineering convergence, Liu aims to drive innovation and upgrade the smart elderly care industry.
